Gonfienti is a small borough located in the town of Prato, Tuscany, it is famous for its archaeological area where you can find an Etruscan City.
Well, the Etruscan city is underground (or better, is covered with some meter of ground), you can't visit it yet, but we hope that local authorities someday will bring it to the light ... again

CAIRO—An Egyptian court has ordered the country's military rulers to stop the use of "virginity tests" on female detainees, a practice that has caused an uproar among activists and rights groups.
The civilian administrative court decision Tuesday comes after a woman who claimed to have been abused filed two suits against the military's practice, one demanding it be banned and another accusing an officer of sexual assault.
The virginity-test allegations first surfaced after a March 9 rally in Cairo's Tahrir Square that turned violent when men in plainclothes attacked protesters and the army forcefully cleared the square.
Human Rights Watch said seven women were subjected to the tests. At first the military denied they were done, and then a military prosecutor said the army is looking into the issue.

Gingrich may need to work on his modesty for Iowa voters." border="0" width="580" height="397" />
Newt Gingrich speaks to supporters during a campaign rally in Richmond, Va. Said Republican strategist Mark McKinnon: “Voters want candidates who are ‘of us’ and ‘above us.’ Gingrich has nailed the ‘above us’ part. He needs some work on the ‘of us’ piece." (Alex Wong, Getty Images / December 24, 2011)
Reporting from Des Moines—
With a rich trail of utterances, Newt Gingrich has outlined an opinion of himself that ranges from lofty to stratospheric.
In 1985, Gingrich told the Washington Post: "I have enormous personal ambition. I want to shift the planet. And I'm doing it." In 1994, he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "People like me are what stand between us and Auschwitz." Just the other day, at the Iowa statehouse, he gave himself credit for helping defeat the Soviet Empire.
As Gingrich seeks the GOP presidential nomination here, where the first ballots of the 2012 nominating contest will be cast Jan. 3, Iowans are weighing his long experience, conservative credentials and their hope that he is the Republican who could best President Obama rhetorically.
But his occasionally apocalyptic self-regard is running counter to another Iowa interest: modesty. Gingrich heard about that last week from Jenny Turner, a 31-year-old wedding videographer in southeast Iowa.
"You did an ABC interview where you said 'I am gonna be the nominee.' I have been for you, and have been a big fan," Turner told Gingrich when he and his wife stopped to chat with voters at the Hy-Vee supermarket in Mount Pleasant. "But that felt a little bit presumptuous."
Gingrich, whose considerable personal baggage has forced him to master the art of seeming remorseful, didn't flinch.
"It was a mistake," he said. "I used to be an analyst at Fox and every once in awhile a reporter will ask me an analytical question and I will forget, I am not an analyst, I'm a candidate."
(To some, this amounted to the same kind of faux-pology he issued in March when he blamed his own bad behavior — an adulterous affair with his current wife, Callista, while prosecuting President Clinton for an adulterous affair — on "how passionately I felt about this country.")
Achieving common-man authenticity is Gingrich's great challenge, said Republican strategist Mark McKinnon: "Voters want candidates who are 'of us' and 'above us.' Gingrich has nailed the 'above us' part. He needs some work on the 'of us' piece. A big part of the attraction to Newt is that he is bigger than life. But, they also have to be able to relate to him on some human level. And that's where Gingrich has a real challenge."
That was obvious Tuesday, when, after Gingrich finished taking questions at the Hy-Vee, he shook hands with Turner, who elaborated on her previous challenge: "I just want you to be humble," she said. "Do you think you're arrogant?"
Gingrich admitted that some have that opinion. But, he added, "I work very hard and I am assertive."
"Well, assertive's good for me," Turner said.
But later she said she was not so sure. "I don't know," she said by phone. "Pride goeth before a fall."
That could be Gingrich's motto. In the '90s, as House speaker, he engineered a government shutdown, in part, because he felt insulted by his seat placement during a ride on Air Force One. His tenure, which returned the House to Republicans for the first time in decades, ended as he was fined $300,000 by the House ethics committee, the first speaker ever to be punished for ethical lapses. (When he departed office in 1998 under a cloud, he called fellow Republicans who had tried to topple his speakership "cannibals.")
Despite a near total campaign implosion last summer, Gingrich, who looks every bit the rumpled history professor he once was, managed to surge to the top of the presidential polls last month after businessman Herman Cain dropped out in the wake of sexual harassment allegations. A sustained attack by Gingrich's well-funded rivals — former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul and Texas Gov. Rick Perry — has now eroded his lead.
An author of numerous books, both novels and nonfiction, Gingrich is regarded by many here as the GOP field's deepest thinker, who spouts ideas, many outlandish, the way other candidates spout talking points. In a recent debate, he said some federal judges are "grotesquely dictatorial," and if they decline to appear before Congress to explain their rulings, they should be rounded up by federal marshals.
But the incendiary lines that wow debate audiences don't always sit well with others. On Friday, the Des Moines Register, in an editorial excoriating Gingrich for his attacks on judges, said his "bombast is irresponsible." Last week, when former President George H.W. Bush said he supported Romney, his description of Romney as "mature and reasonable — not a bomb-thrower" was widely interpreted as a negative reference to Gingrich. (Bush later denied it was meant that way.)
The struggle for many Iowans is that they like what Gingrich stands for, but worry about his personality.
John Thorpe, an Episcopal priest in Newton, a small town hit hard in recent years by the closure of the Maytag appliance factory and headquarters, said he likes Gingrich, in spite of his abundant self-regard.
"I'm a student of history and I can't help but think of Napoleon," said Thorpe, who on Thursday brought his wife, Beth, and their three small children to a Newton coffee house to meet Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, a Gingrich rival. Thorpe and his wife are undecided. "It's not that we want a Napoleon in office, but sometimes it takes a big thinker and a big personality to do a big job."
Both Thorpes have enjoyed watching Gingrich's debate performances. "I will say that all of his answers begin the same way — 'Well, your premise is wrong, you're a moron and here's why,' " he said. "After awhile it begins to get old, but I like his ideas so much, I'm willing to look over it."
So are many of his Iowa supporters.
Kraig Paulsen, the Republican speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives, endorsed Gingrich on Wednesday at a press conference that made the news when it was interrupted by Occupy Des Moines protesters. (Gingrich described the outburst as "all noise, no thought" before returning to his remarks.)
Afterward, Paulsen was asked whether he thought Iowans have a problem with some of the harsher aspects of Gingrich's personality.
"I suppose some would find it offensive," said Paulsen, before growing exasperated. "We're picking the president of the United States," he said. "We're not picking someone to invite over for dinner!"

Obama" border="0" width="580" height="326" />
President Obama makes a statement on the payroll tax cut extension in the White House press briefing room Dec. 17, 2011. (WhiteHouse.gov)
President Obama said Saturday that he was "very pleased" that Congress has reached agreement on a short term extension of a payroll tax holiday and unemployment benefits, and quickly urged lawmakers to work on extending the provisions after the holiday recess.
"While this agreement is for two months, it is my expectation -- in fact it would be inexcusable for Congress not to further extend this middle class tax cut for the rest of the year," Obama said in a statement to reporters at the White House.
"It should be a formality, and hopefully it's done with as little drama as possible when they get back in January."
The Senate had earlier overwhelmingly approved the tax break in a rare Saturday session. The final deal includes a provision the White House had opposed that speeds up a decision on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.
But Obama said it was critical that families not see an increase in taxes on Jan. 1, and said the continued break would boost the economy.
Democrats had sought a surtax on millionaires to pay for a full-year extension, while Republicans wanted steep budget cuts. The short-term deal is funded by new fees on home loans from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Obama said that in the new year he'd renew a call for the "wealthiest few Americans to pay their fair share, and corporations to do without special taxpayer subsidies," saying that view was supported by most of the country.
The House is expected to finalize the deal on Monday, and Obama would likely quickly sign it. He has delayed his annual holiday visit to Hawaii until the deal is approved.

I've toyed with this image for a while. The uncropped image has some interesting foreground pebbles but also a lot of distracting elements. I'm happier with the 3x1 though I think the further you get away from 'square' on Flickr, the less well it presents it.
In the end I've decided to live with the less Flickr friendly version. As a consequence, this is definitely better viewed on black press L.
This is the second and last of the processed shots of this subject (first is +1 in comments) that I took a few weeks back. It's somewhere that will likely pop up again in my photostream in the future.

And there are trade-offs. Many of the Jeep-iest off-roading pieces on the Grand Cherokee Overland edition, such as the chassis-lifting air suspension, the two-speed transfer case, the very well chosen mud-and-snow tires, and the Selec-Terrain 4x4 system, are incompatible with the SRT8's track-focused mission.
In the place of Selec-Terrain, with its preprogrammed Sand/Mud and Rock settings, you will find the Selec-Trac rotary controller, with settings for Sport and Track. These settings put a keen asphalt edge to the adaptive suspension; throttle, steering and transmission response; stability and traction-control thresholds; and the center- and rear-differential behavior.
In Normal mode, the multiclutch center diff apportions 65% of engine torque to the rear axle. In the Sport and Track modes, increasingly higher percentages of twist are shunted to the rear wheels and the stability intervention loosens its grip.
Now it becomes what it wants to be: a squat, low-slung, all-wheel-drive luxury race truck, an Audi with a love of knife fights and Toby Keith.
In addition to the center diff, the electronically controlled rear differential provides side-to-side torque vectoring. If the g-sensors indicate the truck isn't turning hard enough to match the driver's steering input, the inside rear wheel will brake slightly, directing more torque to the outside wheel and helping to pivot the truck.
All this signal processing bludgeons physics as we know it into quivering submission. It is just weird to throw this hunk of iron into a tight bend and have it actually go more or less where it's pointed. There is one initial, heart-seizing moment of load transfer and body roll, but then the chassis hunkers into its stance and off you go. Picking up the throttle with some steering input only makes the thing corner harder. It's like an SUV with ground effects.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
Base price: $60,960
Price as tested: $62,780
Powertrain: Naturally aspirated 6.4-liter overhead valve V8 with variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation; five-speed automatic transmission; multiclutch center differential; brake-based torque-vectoring limited slip rear differential
Horsepower/torque: 470 hp at 6,000 rpm/465 pound-feet at 4,200 rpm.
Length/weight: 191.3 inches/5,200 pounds (est.)
Wheelbase: 114.8 inches
0-60 mph: 4.6 seconds
EPA fuel economy: 12/18 mpg, city/highway
Cargo capacity: 35.1 cubic feet (behind second-row seats)
If you make a lot of sudden steering moves, the SRT8 will eventually succumb to its own superincumbent mass and the rebounding forces will unstick the tires. Then the stability control will reprove you with a chorus of brake chattering. But the limits are simply preposterously high.
I'd be remiss if I didn't also note the giant 15-inch, six-pot Brembo brakes that gleam through the front alloys. Fully engaged, the Brembos arrest the speeding truck as if you'd forgotten to untie it from the dock.
Now it starts to get interesting, because—as the SRT8 proves—we're getting to the point where vehicle type doesn't really matter. If the computer programming is supple enough and the on-board processing is fast enough, engineers can now virtually nullify effects caused by vehicle height, weight, roll centers and center of mass. Throw enough code at it and you can get a Ferrari to drive great in the snow, an Audi A8 with Quattro to drift like a tail-happy Toyota Supra, and you can get an 80-foot sperm whale—I mean, a Jeep Grand Cherokee—to corner like a sport sedan. This is the vehicle version of Ray Kurzweil's singularity theory.
And still, that's not the most interesting thing.
This most interesting thing is that the Grand Cherokee is so utterly integrated into itself, so latticed with a sense of over-engineered structure and vested solidity. The interior materials are top notch. The deep-bolstered SRT8 front buckets are excellent. The interior quiet and cabin timbre belong to a European executive saloon. If this isn't the best-built American vehicle, you'll have to show me one better.
This soundness, which is notable in the standard Grand Cherokees, is magnified in the SRT8. The result sometimes feels less like a machine than like an organic whole, a huge, thick-skulled, powerful animal moving with equal menace and grace through its element. Not a rhino, nor clumsy elephant. A whale. Have you seen it?

Today looked like being the last warm day for a while so we took Lanie out fishing on the James River. It was a wonderfully warm and a very pleasant afternoon. Not that either Lanie or I caught anything apart from leaves and trees.
